Biography
Dolchamar is a band that makes electronic rock music in the
international language, Esperanto, for an international audience. They
are famous for a dancey beat, daring lyrics and an energetic live
performance. The band has played at several Esperanto youth and culture
festivals in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Poland and France. Dolchamar have
made two albums for the French record company Vinilkosmo, which
specialises on Esperanto music.
The first album, Lingvo Intermonda (2000), was particularily a
success at festival discos around the world with the first hip hop song
ever to be recorded in Esperanto, Chu vi pretas ?! With two
contributions on Vinilkosmo's electronic compilation, Elektronika
kompilo (2003), the "bad boys" of Esperanto rock have been
the ones to bring real Esperanto music to the Esperanto dance floor,
followed by other artists.
Dolchamar's second album Rebela Sono (2005) introduced a live
6-piece-band with a garage rock sound and a more political tone. With
two editions - one international and the other exclusively released
in Finland, their native - Rebela Sono gained a lot of publicity in the
Finnish media and has become one of the biggest selling Esperanto cd's ever.
The members of Dolchamar are Patrik Austin (guitar and vocals), Hannu
Linkola (drums and percussion), Toni Mäki (bass guitar) and Andrei
Dumitrescu (keyboards).
